The San Francisco Symphony provides free in-school visits by a volunteer to prepare students for their upcoming Concerts for Kids performances. Presentations by our trained docents are designed to increase students' understanding of the symphony orchestra, introduce them to the pieces they will be hearing, and provide a foundation of musical knowledge for their upcoming concert.
After submitting your request, an Education Docent will contact you to make an appointment. We find that students benefit more from the concert experience when they are given a presentation and have discussed and listened to the music prior to the concert.
The deadline to request an Education Docent for the Youth Concerts (Grade 4-9) was October 30, 2017.
The deadline to request an Education Docent for the Children's Concerts (Grades K-3) is January 12, 2018.
If you have any questions, please email us at CFK@sfsymphony.org.
Please note that Docents can make multiple presentations on a school visit.
