The Metropolitan League of the San Francisco Symphony was founded by San Francisco residents who support and enjoy the San Francisco Symphony. It is one of nine volunteer groups in the Bay Area and is coordinated by the Symphony’s Volunteer Council, established in 1973. The League’s mission is to encourage community service, support the Symphony in audience development, and raise funds for the Symphony’s community and education programs.
Throughout the year, League members enjoy a variety of local social and musical events and San Francisco Symphony concerts at Davies Symphony Hall. General meetings are held in the evenings the second Monday of each month and include a brief business meeting followed by either a musical performance or educational speaker.
The League’s fundraising initiatives include a holiday book wrapping project at three different Books Inc. locations in San Francisco.
The League’s main fundraiser this year is A Sunday Picnic in the City, on March 18. The event will feature acclaimed vocalists, The Fog City Singers, catering by RT Rotisserie and will be held at the Julia Morgan-designed Century Club in San Francisco.
