The Marin League of the San Francisco Symphony was founded in 1965 by North Bay residents who support and enjoy the San Francisco Symphony. It is one of nine volunteer groups in the Bay Area coordinated by the Symphony’s Volunteer Council. The League’s mission is to encourage community service, support the Symphony in audience development, and raise funds for the Symphony’s community and education programs.
The League’s primary community focus is music education through the San Francisco Symphony’s Concerts for Kids program. Interested league members train as docents and prepare students from schools around the Bay Area to attend Concert for Kids programs performed by the San Francisco Symphony at Davies Symphony Hall.
The League’s annual fundraiser is their popular Crab Feast. The event includes a reception, silent auction, all-you-can-eat crab dinner and live music. This season’s event will be held on March 25, 2017 at the Corte Madera Community Center in Corte Madera.
Throughout the year, League members enjoy a variety of local social and musical events, and San Francisco Symphony concerts at Davies Symphony Hall. Monthly general meetings are held in the evening, and include a business meeting followed by either a musical performance or educational speaker.
