MTT conducts Also sprach Zarathustra: An Open Rehearsal

R. Strauss’s Also sprach Zarathustra is a force to be reckoned with. MTT and the Orchestra celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of R. Strauss with this symphonic spectacular made famous in the Stanley Kubrick classic 2001: A Space Odyssey, and now firmly ensconced in both the classical repertory and pop culture. Other works from the film—like J. Strauss Jr.’s lilting By the Beautiful Blue Danube Waltz and Ligeti’s Lux aeterna (representing the lunar landscape) as well as American Masterpieces by Foss and Ives complete the program.

Katharine Hanrahan Open Rehearsal is a working rehearsal. The pieces rehearsed are at the conductor’s discretion. View the full event.
