Blomstedt conducts Schubert’s Great C major Symphony

Conductor Laureate Herbert Blomstedt returns to lead Schubert’s great Ninth Symphony. Written in the final years of Schubert’s too-brief life, this final Symphony was ignored for more than a decade after his passing, but once heard, was immediately hailed for its majesty and nobility. SFS principal clarinet Carey Bell is the soloist in Carl Nielsen’s jazz-inspired Clarinet Concerto.
