Organ Recital with Cameron Carpenter

“An ambitious radical who plays with unrelenting vigor, scope, and imagination” (Advocate), Cameron Carpenter performs a recital of solo organ works and the American Premiere of his own composition Science Fiction Scenes (Visions of the Organ from Space). Essentially an opera for organ alone, Science Fiction Scenes is a massive work using the instrument in ways that, for Carpenter, can now be considered "typically radical". Inspiration for the work comes primarily from graphic novels of Chris Ware, and many of the titles of individual movements are taken from the artist’s novels and used with permission.  At Davies Symphony Hall, Carpenter gives just the second performance of five selected movements: Kill Me, Atomic Girl; What Worlds Await; You Were Now; The Minimum Maelstrom; and Of All The Skies That Weep. 

This premiere will constitute the second half of the concert.
