MTT and Lang Lang

The extraordinary Lang Lang returns to the SFS in a concert that includes Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff.  Rachmaninoff was an extraordinary melodist; one of the tunes from his Second Symphony enjoyed a second life as a rock hit in the ’70s.

“The ebullient Lang Lang is maturing as an artist . . . his playing is refined, almost severe. He has an intelligent way of shaping phrases, controlling dynamics, varying articulations.”   THE NEW YORKER
