Beethoven’s Violin Concerto

Beethoven’s glorious Violin Concerto didn’t fully reveal its beauties until it found a capable champion four decades after the composer wrote it.  Augustin Hadelich, an exciting young violinist performs this piece with the San Francisco Symphony during a season of debuts with many American orchestras.  The sweep and military feel of Nielsen’s epic Fifth Symphony suggest a deeply felt response to World War I. Maestro Blomstedt is one of the world’s foremost interpreters of his work.

“The essence of Hadelich’s playing is beauty: reveling in the myriad ways of making a phrase come alive on the violin, delivering the musical message with no technical impediments whatsoever, and thereby revealing something from a plane beyond ours.” —WASHINGTON POST

Please Note: Julia Fischer was announced earlier as the violin soloist for this concert. However, she has withdrawn for personal reasons.
