SAN FRANCISCO SYMPHONY ANNOUNCES NEW SUMMER WITH THE SYMPHONY PERFORMANCE: ACTOR AND HIP HOP ARTIST COMMON, AUGUST 1

Common performs selections from his 2016 release Black America Again, as well as hits from Like Water for Chocolate, Be, and Selma with the San Francisco Symphony

SAN FRANCISCO, CA—Hip hop artist, actor, and activist Common joins the San Francisco Symphony and conductor Steven Reineke on August 1 to perform selections from the artist’s 2016 release Black America Again, which has been called a “potent protest album” (Chicago Tribune) and which Rolling Stone deemed one of the “40 Best Rap Albums of 2016.” The San Francisco Symphony will accompany Common in orchestrated versions of selections from Black America Again, as well as other hits including “The Light” from Like Water for Chocolate,  “Testify” and “Go!” from Be, and “Glory” from Selma.
