SAN FRANCISCO SYMPHONY’S ADVENTURES IN MUSIC PROGRAM FOR ALL SAN FRANCISCO PUBLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS CELEBRATES 30th ANNIVERSARY

MUSIC ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCE FOR THIRD AND FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS, PRECEDED BY REMARKS BY SAN FRANCISCO MAYOR MARK FARRELL, SF SYMPHONY PRESIDENT SAKURAKO FISHER, AND SFUSD SUPERINTENDENT DR. VINCENT MATTHEWS

April 24, 9:45am – 12:00pm, Sanchez Elementary School, 325 Sanchez Street, SF

The San Francisco Symphony’s Adventures in Music (AIM) education program celebrates its 30th anniversary with a special AIM ensemble performance for schoolchildren on Tuesday, April 24 at Sanchez Elementary School. The longest running and most comprehensive music education program of its kind among American orchestras, AIM is the result of a three decade-long partnership between the San Francisco Symphony and the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), providing equitable access to music education to every San Francisco public elementary school student in grades 1 through 5.

San Francisco Mayor Mark Farrell, SFS President Sakurako Fisher, and SFUSD Superintendent Dr. Vincent Matthews will speak to the importance of the AIM program and music education, and Mayor Farrell will present a proclamation on behalf of the City of San Francisco recognizing the Symphony’s contributions to music education in public schools.

Following brief remarks, guests and schoolchildren will experience an island-inspired, rhythmically-driven AIM performance by the Caribbean Express, demonstrating the unique music education experience that SFUSD children are provided during their elementary school years.
