YoonGeong Lee

Name: YoonGeong Lee
Voice type: Soprano
SFS Chorus member since: Fall 2016
Hometown: Seoul, South Korea
Music schools I attended: Seoul National University(BM), University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music(MM,DMA)

Began singing: At age 15

I was inspired to become a professional singer by: Sumi Jo

If I were not a professional singer, I might be: a lawyer or another profession working for justice, or a good mom

Favorite composers: Verdi, Mozart, Rachmaninoff, Chopin

Favorite vocal works: La Boheme, Carmen, Carmina burana, Pounlenc’s Gloria, Bach cantatas and Passions, Gorecki Symphony No. 3

This season I am really looking forward to: Singing with wonderful musicians. Being a member of the chorus itself is just exciting. I can’t wait to be part of making music for every concert we have.

When I'm not working, what I enjoy doing most is: Walking along the beach listening to fun music, reading, biking, and talking on kakaotalk with family and old friends.

Some of the more interesting music you’ll find on my CD player/on my iPod is: I normally listen to music from the radio or on youtube. Genres are very diverse: my favorite k-pop is by Sora Lee or Zion T, piano music (especially by Rachmaninoff/Chopin), and Hillsongs.

Favorite things to do in the Bay Area (and why): Biking and hiking because that’s why the Bay Area is more attractive than any other city. And there are many diverse places to eat and taste wines in these neighborhoods.

Anything else you’d like to share? We’d love to hear about projects you’re especially excited about, or anything you want to share with your friends and fans: I am grateful that I can continue my passion to sing and have a job that I wanted with what I like. Every moment that I meet people through music is precious. I hope to have more chances to make music that can give hope, dreams, and the reason to live to people.
