SFS Chorus member since: 1989
Hometown: Oakland, CA

Began singing: At age 10
Musical inspirations: My junior high music teacher
If I were not a professional singer, I might be a: Realtor
Favorite composers: Vaughan Williams, Barber, Schumann
Favorite vocal works: Prokofiev, Alexander Nevsky; Mahler, Second and Eighth Symphonies; Korf’s Requiem
When I’m not working, I enjoy: Going to movies, looking at model homes, dining.
Recent reading: My “chorus notes” telling me that I have another six-day stretch of rehearsals. Wow!
On my CD player/iPod: I don’t own either. I live music, through symphonic, church music, and musical theatre.
Favorite things to do in the Bay Area: Finding ways to avoid the traffic when negotiating between my day job and music; going to live theatre when I can
Plus: While singing the Vaughan Williams’s Fantasia on Christmas Carols in our Best Time of Year concerts last season, I was thinking about how things come full circle in one’s life. On October 17, 1989 I drove to the Symphony to audition for my first solo in our Symphony Chorus Christmas Concert, in the Fantasia on Christmas Carols. Had I not auditioned, I would have been on the Bay Bridge at 5:04pm during the Loma Prieta Earthquake. Since then I have sung it many times through the years. It’s my “lucky” charm.
